First 3D film to be produced at
Exeter Phoenix Digital.
Exeter Phoenix Digital has teamed up with Peter Snelling and James Price to create their first 3D film with support from First Light Movies.
The project will be working with young children from the Littleham Estate in Exmouth. They will be using the new 3D HERO system from GoPro to produce the first 3D film of it kind.
Jonas Hawkins, Exeter Phoenix Digital Manager states, ‘This is the first time any one has created a 3D film with children in this way. We are really looking forward to seeing what they produce using the new kit’.
The 3D hero system combines two single Go Pro HD cameras in a single casing and films simultaneously in 2D. The children will learn to use special 3D software so footage can be transformed to 3D and viewed on a computer or on a 3D telly. ‘Once the children have seen what they can achieve with the camera they will be amazed. It should allow for a lot of creative thinking and imagination’ adds Jonas.
Exeter Phoenix Digital and Peter Snellling’s last collaboration, Digital Documenters, lead to great success after winning ‘Best Documentary’ at the First light awards this year and last autumn’s project, Hopes and Fears, gave a voice to many children who had stories to tell.
‘After the success of our last projects we’re confident this 3D film project will follow in their footsteps’ Say Jonas. They will be shooting this summer and hope to screen the film in the autumn so get your 3D glasses ready!
