AMELIA CURRAN

AMELIA CURRAN

Canadian singers-songwriter, Amelia Curran, is rapidly gaining a fine reputation as a powerful and truthful lyricist of some standing. What sets her apart is an absence of whimsy, with the harsh light of experience driving her songs rather than some wispy, idealized fantasy, and that grit ensures her material remains timeless. Amelia, who has been described as ‘a bit like Leonard Cohen being channelled in a dusty saloon by Patsy Cline’ has also picked up a Juno award (Canada’s music gong) for her 2009 album Hunter Hunter. This was other critically acclaimed albums including 2012's ' They Promised You Mercy' which has been described as ‘a meditation on frailty, restlessness, time and its finitudes' and is both storm and harbour to Amelia’s celebrated lyricism.
