Welcome to my Creative Torbay profile page which has a little bit about what I have done, what I want to achieve and what I am doing now

With 9 years of working within the creative arts sector. I have been part of several supporting artists’ programmes including working for ArtsMatrix as the Devon based Creative Enterprise Specialist and previous to that I worked at the Farnham Maltings in Surrey for 5 years where I implemented the development of a three year supporting artists scheme which delivered sustainable support, mentoring, information and advice to new and emerging arts and crafts-based industries.
I have established programmes of core training and networking events to over 450 creative businesses regionally and developed and maintained studio provision for over 30 artists and creative businesses as well as coordinating and managing the establishment of a new studio building for a further 10 studios.

I also organised one of the the south easts leading contemporary craft festivals 'Festival of Crafts' and more recently have been working for Fool's Paradise- the leading Street Theatre agency.

I am passionate about supporting creative practitioners to reach their potential. The creative industries have experienced positive growth and investment in recent years, particularly in the South West of England which is why I returned to Devon in 2008.
I genuinely believe that if we can encourage artists to make art and have a sense of belonging within their community then we can create a happier and safer place for all. It is vital that arts play this role in society and that my work is an integral part in achieving this ambition.

Working with Creative Torbay...
I worked with creative torbay on a freelance basis throughout since 2009 to support their ambition of a cultural regeneration of the Bay.

More recently I covered maternity leave for Anna Gilroy as the Arts Development Officer so now I know even more about the cultural landscape of Torbay

What about now?
I have just finished organising Art, Sport and Play on the English Riviera event at Cockington Court which saw 88 free creative, sport and play activities take place over 37 days!

Kate worked hard to organise the Arts Market in Paignton (in June) - it was a very pleasant day, with a positive atmosphere. Those I spoke to thought that the day was a success in raising awareness of creativity in the area, and we all hope that more sales might follow as a result. Well done Kate!

I have been lucky enough to meet Kate three times and I have learnt a great deal, which has helped me in my first year of business.
