This concert is a farewell concert for Malcolm Latchem . After a performing career which has included the Dartington String Quartet , the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields; and the Royal Philharmonic, London Philharmonic and Philharmonia Orchestras, it seems fitting to give a final concert in the former home of the Dartington String Quartet and of the College where Malcolm taught the violin for more than 30 years.

The varied titles in the programme show the aim of the composers to paint pictures with sound. The Debussy was arranged by Malcolm for an earlier recording.
