Watchet LIVE stages their version of F1 with the Annual Wheelbarrow Race on Sunday June 3rd. With the Grid set up on the sun drenched esplanade next to the marina, you could almost think you are in Monaco as the tension on the Grid builds.

A maximum of 20 teams ( 2 people per team) many in fancy dress and wheelbarrows of all shapes, sizes and themed!, race pub to pub having to stop at each have a drink and change from pusher to passenger at each stop. This 600 mtr course has 7 stops and the word record is under 5 minutes with the slowest recorded time 8 hours!

Prizes are given for 1st 2nd and 3rd Fast team, 1st place fastest female 1st Place faster mixed team and Best Fancy Dress, No race would be complete without of coarse Champagne for the winners as they collect there prizes from the podium!

Each year the audience along the coarse grows with numerous great photo opportunities to capture this wacky race!

This year the Wheelbarrow race will form part of Watchet LIVE’s Queen Diamond Jubilee Picnic celebrations taking place from midday until around 9pm.
