Alex Mendizabal
The practice of Alex Mendizabal (Donostia, 1961) often adopts unusual forms, such as blind films, concerts in movement, underwater music, music for orchestra, experiments with graphical notation, scores of less than a second and concerts for geological movements. In 1996, he stopped writing and since then has dedicated himself to building and playing his own instruments. His most notable works include the following: Interposed Counterpoints, Dagherrosounds, underwater concerts, Time Saving Service (all classical music in 1 minute), micro musics, Imitation Project, Blind Cinema, sound installations, muted silent cinema, Fraudulent and Freudulent cinema, Music Upsidedown, etc. He is the creator of several groups such as Curva Chiusa, Monnezza Sonora, Zine Animau, Convention, Marching Band, Senior Orchestra, Dissociazioni Unite AR. He has created more than a dozen operettas (short operas). He has collaborated with Bruce McClure, Xabi Erkizia and Amelia Cuni, among others.

He has played in all kinds of venues, as well as festivals, museums and venues in various countries (Serralves, Portugal; the Biennale of Music and 25FPS, Croatia; Visitazioni, M.A.C.RO. and Biennale Venezia, Italy; Pépète Lumière, Nantes, Bayonne, France; Anthology Film Archive, San Francisco Cinemateque and Whitney Museum, USA; La Casa Encendida, Museo Reina Sofia and MACBA, Spain; Ghent, Belgium; Rotterdam Film Festival, Netherlands; Ertz, Tabakalera and Larraskito, Basque Country; Cafe Oto, UK; KM28, Germany; etc).
