I am investigating sled making. I believe that prehistoric peoples probably used sleds to transport their gear before the invention of the wheel. Sleds have been used up until recent times locally and throughout the world especially in hilly zones such as Northern Spain. In Asturias the local sled is called a Cangas and they were used to bring hay down from the fields. Devon sleds called muck-a -trucks were used on Dartmoor in recent times to transport peat and granite off the moor. I'm not really sure what one looks like, to find out I would have to visit the Museum of Dartmoor Life in Oakhampton.
