Creative Fellows 2020-21: Arts and Culture University of Exeter

Creative Fellowships 2020-21: ARTISTS CALLOUT
Arts and Culture University of Exeter

Arts and Culture University of Exeter is inviting applications from creative practitioners for two Creative Fellowships running in the next academic year (September 2020-July 2021). Each will be a 4-5 week exploratory placement, working in an interdisciplinary context. The Creative Fellowships are open to practitioners of any artform, including visual, digital, sound and performing arts, craft, design, film, literature and music.

Rather than being a residency, these opportunities are described as placements. The creative practitioner is a peer, opening up new approaches and conversations with the University hosts while developing and enriching their own creative practice. This scheme encourages mutually-beneficial exchange, where both the host and the creative practitioner gain new insights and potential ways of working.

The University of Exeter Creative Fellowship hosts in 2020-21 are:

- Antimicrobial Resistance Network (Exeter, Penryn and Truro campuses) Led by the Wellcome Centre for Cultures and Environments of Health (WCCEH) and the European Centre for Environment and Human Health (ECEHH).

- The Politics of Sexual Nature (Exeter Campuses) Led by the Sexual Knowledge Unit.

Note: a third Creative Fellowship, exploring ‘The Playful University’, will be advertised in a couple of weeks’ time. Details of all three Creative Fellowships are being shared now so that creative practitioners can decide which is best suited to their practice. We are only accepting applications to the two Creative Fellowships listed above now.

The total budget per Creative Fellowship is £5,000 (inclusive of VAT) on a freelance basis, to include practitioner’s fee, travel and accommodation, production costs and documentation. In the uncertain context of the Covid-19 pandemic, we will adapt as required to remote working.
