Bagshaw Museum’s popular guided tours continue on Sunday, 9 September, with free tours at 1pm and 2.30pm.
It is an opportunity to learn more about the stunning Victorian Gothic mansion that stands majestic at the top of Wilton Park, Batley.
The tours will reveal how the house, built as a family home in 1875 by mill owner George Sheard and originally called ‘The Woodlands’, became Bagshaw Museum and how the land surrounding it became Wilton Park.
They will also feature local councillor and businessman Walter Bagshaw who converted the house into a museum and after whom it is named.
The tours, which will include a peep at areas not open to the public, last approximately 45 minutes. There is no need to book places; just turn up on the day.
Further monthly tours are scheduled for Sundays 7 October, 4 November and 2 December.
