Winner of the Venus Business Mother of the Year in Devon 2015

Winner of the Venus Business Mother of the Year in Devon 2015

To be voted Winner of the Venus Business Mother of the Year in Devon 2015 is quite mind blowing! I feel bowled over, stunned and very proud. To be involved with the Venus awards has enabled me to stop and reflect on what I have achieved in my career so far.
It has made me grow in confidence, allowing me to network on a business level and hold my own in a business forum, which is pretty daunting, especially being an artist!
It is wonderful to have the recognition for all my hard work and respect for what I have created and built, which is an amazing humbling experience. I am exceedingly grateful to all my friends, followers, supporters and customers who took the time to vote for me.
Especially my loyal followers on facebook and twitter.... thank you! thank you! thank you! x

As any working Mum knows, juggling business life and being a full time Mum is testing and trying and slightly crazy and chaotic!!! By winning this award I am certainly not claiming that I know all there is to know about business, or being a super Mum, but I hope that I can inspire other women that they can achieve and fulfil their goals and aspirations, and that it is possible to do this, as well as being a Mum. I felt that my identity was lost for quite a while when my 3 children were born, and that my creativity had to be put to one side. This was actually quite hard for me and it was so important for me to be creative again, as half of me was missing!

A typical day at home tends to be a mad rush before heading out of the door for the school run. I then come back home to clear up the kitchen, put a wash on, load the dishwasher, tidy up and maybe walk Twiggy or go out for a quick run down to the sea before starting my working day.

My pictures and posters are stored at home, so my business in run, managed and orders are dispatched from our family home, where I create all my pictures too. The kids old play room is now my mini distribution warehouse, so I have my team who come in and fulfil the orders from my website and Not On The High Street, and put together trade orders for shops and galleries who I supply to across the South West.. My amazing team also go through email enquiries with me as the admin is the part of my business which I least enjoy! Being an artist I long to create, so this is a juggle to have this precious time during the day to be creative, whilst managing and running my business.

The day whizzes by in a flash and as soon as I know it, it is time to collect the children from school and then race around doing after school clubs and get the homework done, and work out what is for dinner!! Then when the kids are in bed it is our time, where we try to relax and unwind, but generally it is spent tidying up, hanging up washing and catching up on everything!

I am amazed, thankful and grateful that people are loving what I do and I’m exceptionally grateful of my life and what I am doing. I want my art to be a positive message and a true appreciation of life and the South West, where I feel so lucky to live with my husband Matt, and 3 children Heidi (11) Bertie (9) Tom (7) and golden retriever dog Twiggy.
Winning this award is not only very humbling but hopefully is inspiring to other young girls, women and Mums to follow their dream, whilst juggling the home and a cherished family.

Thank you for voting for me! x
