Here at Blue Monkey Network, we like to create opportunities for artists to get to know some of the people who make things happen in the arts in Sussex. For our May event we’re pleased to introduce Teri Sayers-Cooper, Director of Creative Force and Clare Halstead, Towner’s new Learning and Outreach Manager. Teri and Clare will tell us about their roles within their organisations, their plans for the future and ways in which they work with artists.

If you’re interested in learning more about the roles of artists in the community or in gallery education and outreach, come and join us and find out more about how artists work with organisations like Towner & Creative Force.

There will, as usual, also be time for informal chat and a glass of wine.

Clare Halstead has been managing arts projects and specialising in creative learning and engaging people of all ages with the arts for many years. She has joined Towner after working freelance for a couple of years and prior to that worked with Creative Partnerships Sussex and Surrey and for the Arts Service at West Sussex County Council. The role as Learning and Outreach Manager at Towner includes responsibility for leading the development of the extensive learning programme at the gallery which includes working with young offenders, elderly people and under fives.

Teri Sayers-Cooper is an experienced arts festivals, events and project manager who is passionate about the arts. She has extensive skills in producing, managing, programming and administrating work for performance, exhibition and touring. Her work embraces all artistic disciplines. Throughout her career she has made crossing of all cultural boundaries, plus delivery and development of participatory and learning programmes, a priority. Creative Force believes that quality arts projects bring people together in shared creative experiences to build stronger communities. We also believe that quality arts experiences create amazing people! Our vision is to develop, with artists, partners and communities, projects and programmes of work for people of all ages, abilities, life-styles and cultures to learn about, understand and celebrate similarities and differences. We want people to explore their own creativity to develop new skills and self confidence through working with excellent artists to guide, teach and inspire them. We want to offer new experiences for audiences too by presenting innovative, outstanding work from local and visiting professional artists and companies. Our aim is to work strategically in Eastbourne and its surrounding districts to develop, with partners and artists, an arts agenda which is inclusive, which generates new work and which celebrates and enriches the region, its artists and its communities.
