The Incredible Book Eating Boy

The Incredible Book Eating Boy

Henry loved books, but not like you and I love books, no. Henry loved to EAT books. This exciting theatre adaptation of Oliver Jeffers’ award-winning children’s book by Bootworks follows the story of a boy with a voracious appetite for books. And better still, he realises the more books he eats, the smarter he gets. But a book-eating diet isn’t the healthiest of habits, as Henry soon finds out!

Drawing influence from the illustration and text from Oliver Jeffers’ iconic and award winning The Incredible Book Eating Boy, this new piece (targeted at 4-7 year olds) will integrate playful back projection and live performance.

The audience watch the narrative unfold through three shuttered apertures as the performers endeavour to bring the filmic-esque action to life using puppetry and physical theatre accompanied by a pre-recorded soundtrack. The five-minute duration of the piece allows for intimate experiences repeated back-to-back to accommodate multiple audiences.
