Sounds Like The Seekers

Sounds Like The Seekers

THE SEEKERS 50 YEARS ON
The carnival's not over!

Sounds Like The Seekers is a new show that recreates the songs and atmosphere of a 1960s concert by the Australian super-group, The Seekers.

It's hard to believe but, yes, it's 50 years since The Seeker disbanded. Their music lives on, of course and is still as popular as ever.

And if you missed them the first time round never fear, International singer Samantha and her band will re-create the magic of those 1960s shows with songs such as Georgy Girl, I'll Never Find Another You, Island Of Dreams and many more of their songs both famous and not so famous.

Written and produced by Andy Tebbutt-Russell, Sounds Like The Seekers stars international singer and actress, Samantha (of whom The Stage newspaper said "Perfection") as Judith Durham. She is accompanied by three very talented musicians: Pete Aves as Keith Potger, Owen Jones as Bruce Woodley and Paul Francis as Athol Guy. Between them they have previously played with such famous names as: Petula Clark, Jarvis Cocker, Midge Ure, Paul Weller and many others.

Together they will recreate for you 'The Seekers'.

Andy said: "The biggest challenge in creating the show was deciding what to leave out. The Seekers had so many great songs that I had to leave out some wonderful tunes - but what's left is the cream of a bumper crop!"

Samantha enthused: "Being just 26, I didn't grew up with the music of The Seekers. But many people told me how much I sounded like Judith Durham and so I had to look into it and found I loved the songs - they are so ... happy! And then I was offered this part and it was just perfect for me. Her vocal style is clear and perfect but overall it is the joy in her voice that never fails to move people and I hope I recreate that."
