Brusho Art Workshop with Carrie McKenzie

Brusho Art Workshop with Carrie McKenzie

Workshop Details
Carrie will demonstrate how to use Brusho paints in a variety of ways to get different results, as well giving personal one-to-one help throughout the day. This is very much a 'hands-on' workshop where you will learn more by doing than by watching. Source material will be provided for you. Carrie's teaching style is friendly and informal, suiting people of all levels from beginners to advanced.
Brusho is a very intense paint powder that dilutes with water. Brilliant, bold and colourful, it’s great for experimenting a little to create contemporary striking artwork. Fun, expressive and unpredictable, Brusho is colour-rich, exciting and ideal for creating loose impressionistic paintings. It can be used very similar to watercolour, but also has its own unique applications and interesting effects. In fact, because it is so loose and expressive, many people find it easier to handle than traditional watercolour painting. It's an excellent medium for complete beginners, because you can achieve some fabulous effects relatively quickly. It's also useful for practising artists, particularly watercolourists, who want to loosen up a bit and develop a more spontaneous style. Sometimes, it 's just great fun to try something a bit random and impulsive to get your creative juices flowing! Above all, be ready to celebrate and enjoy the individuality of what you create with a magical explosion of Brusho colour.

About the Artist
Carrie's paintings are exhibited regularly at a number of galleries and venues across West Yorkshire, and her artwork has been selected for collections in UK, Europe, USA, Australia and New Zealand. In addition to original works of art, she also offers premium signed prints and greeting cards, available through her website.
Carrie has had a passion for art since she was a child, and now works from her studio in Halifax. She has trained with some of the leading national and internationally acclaimed artists, who have influenced the development of her own personal style. She says, "I think it is important for an artist to keep learning and refreshing ideas – it’s an exciting journey." Born and brought up Yorkshire, she is fascinated at the play of light and colour that completely changes the appearance of the environment, its people and wildlife. "So many great artists have tried to capture the fascination of light in their work – it is, I think, one of the most transformational aspects of any painting. I am constantly striving to reflect the impact of light and colour into my own work."
Leaning towards illustrative and contemporary, rather than traditional photo-realism, Carrie explores expressionistic loose styles, which bring out the colour, light and atmosphere or essence of her subjects.
