Making and Sharing Art
I class myself as a serious amateur. Alongside Pottery, I learnt to paint in oils in the 1970's but only began painting again after moving to Devon 21 years ago. I am inspired by the rich tapestry of colour-drenched textures and unique light of the South West coast and countryside. My precious sketchbook memories from places painted come rain or shine help me to recollect that 'special something'. In the west-country we face constantly changing weather and a rugged landscape where the air seems to magnify colours and reveals nature in all its glory. Watercolour has been my favourite medium but now, with studio cupboards stuffed to bursting with all kinds of scrumptious media, I love to experiment and learn new techniques to continue to evolve, currently hand-made books and Cyanotype printing. My passion for making and sharing art is fulfilled with tutoring workshops and demonstrations

Back home in the studio, working in a range of media (watercolour, oils, acrylics, pastels, mixed media encaustic wax and printmaking) is often necessary to fully respond to the unending source of inspiration that I have recorded in sketchbooks and on camera. Subjects are uniquely painted with originality whatever media is chosen. Exhibiting widely, taking part in the televised Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year 2015, 2016 and 2018 and being selected as one of 6 finalists in the Devon Life Landscape Painter of the Year 2016 have been exciting achievements.
