Led by pianist James Pearson, the Ronnie Scott Quintet is comprised of some of the greatest talents on the UK Jazz scene. They play regularly at Ronnie Scott’s either opening the musical entertainment or backing top international artists.
The All Stars are in great demand for major events, festivals and performances at venues worldwide. Most recently they backed Jools Holland, Bruce Forsyth, Jeff Beck, Bryan Ferry, Nigel Kennedy, Lulu and Gwyneth Herbert at a celeb packed charity show in London. The band have also made special appearances at the City of London Festival, Henley Festival, Feast of Albion Festival, and Holders Festival in Barbados.
The band regularly play with the great and the good, including Keely Smith, Matt Dusk, Jeff Beck, Jane Mondheit, Ray Gelato, Lianne Carroll, Matt Ford, Sir John Dankworth, Asa Heart, Atilla Hussein and Buddy Greco.
For 2009 the Ronnie Scott’s All Stars have created a number of special projects to celebrate some of the great jazz stars in history. To commemorate 50 years since the death of Billie Holiday and what would have been the 100th Birthday of Lester Young, the band will present a joint project with music from these two outstanding artists.
he same year also marks 50 years since the release of what is widely considered the greatest jazz album of all time; Miles Davis’ ground breaking Kind Of Blue. The Ronnie Scott’s All Stars are taking the celebration project worldwide in honour of this jazz masterpiece.
Other Ronnie Scott’s All Stars projects have included:
A Jazz Portrait of Sam Cooke
A Jazz Portrait of Duke Ellington
A Jazz Portrait of Ella Fitzgerald
A Jazz Portrait of Louis Armstrong
A Jazz Tribute to Nat King Cole
