BBC call out for artists, producers and arts organisations

BBC call out for artists, producers and arts organisations

The BBC has put a call out for artists, producers and arts organisations in England to propose ideas for a new strand of live performance for BBC television. The deadline for submissions is 10am Thursday 19 May 2016.

A new partnership between BBC Arts and Battersea Arts Centre will develop a series of programmes on BBC Two that will “explore the middle ground between live performance and television”.

The two-year ‘Performance Live’ project will build on November’s ‘Live from Television Centre’ at Battersea Arts Centre, which saw artists such as Richard Dedomenici and Gecko perform live on BBC4.

The new project has three key aims:
•To extend the accessibility and reach of arts and culture
•To support artistic talent and creation of new work
•To support skills development and growth of the creative economy

Arts Council England has put out a call for performers working in theatre, dance, comedy, spoken word and live art to submit ideas for programmes that will be broadcast on BBC Two on Saturday nights.

The 15 successful commissions will be given budgets of between £100k – £200k to help with development costs, performance costs and television capture costs.
