Memorial Gestures – Artist Residencies – Open Call

Memorial Gestures – Artist Residencies – Open Call

Holocaust Centre North based at the University of Huddersfield have an Open Call, which will support 3 artists with £800 (or£1000) / month, as part of a 6 month remote residency programme. Artists are invited to explore their collection and respond to themes and stories they feel have contemporary relevance.

Holocaust Centre North is a charity and their archive holds collections of 90+ Jewish refugees or families that made new lives in the North of England. They also provide care and support to remaining Holocaust survivors and are exploring how artistic methodologies can help them tell their stories in ways that challenge the style of conventional Holocaust narratives.

Holocaust Centre North welcomes applications from artists working in any discipline for this Open Call: (animation, dance, drawing, film, installation, interactive creative technologies, moving image, painting, performance, photography, sculpture, socially engaged practice, sound, textiles, VR and AR, writing, etc.)

They are particularly interested in hearing from applicants with a history of working with young people/ vulnerable adults/ elderly people. (Experience can be informal or formal!)

If you would like to find out more, you can sign up for their drop-in sessions on Thursday September 1st 12.30pm and Monday September 12th 5.30pm.

The closing date is 19 September 2022 for applications.
