Manager - Palace Theatre Paignton - Torbay

Torbay Council are looking to recruit an experienced Theatre Manager to lead the team at The Palace Theatre, a 350 seat community theatre in Paignton, Devon.

Paignton is one of the three towns that sit on the shore of the beautiful Tor Bay, and together comprise a resident population of approximately 130,000 people, which is expanded by a visitor population to 200,000 during the summer months. The three principal towns of Torbay retain their individual charm and natural assets of dramatic shorelines, sandy beaches, rugged cliffs and coves, and countryside that has a richness of history and wildlife unparalleled in the south west.

Please note: this role will be for 25 hours a week - not the 18.5 as stated in the JD.

The Palace theatre is a key part of the local community and the successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring sustainability and financial growth and development of the Palace Theatre, whilst being sympathetic to the needs of user groups and resident organisations including Doorstep Arts and ROC Creative. The role requires someone with strong leadership, interpersonal, business and problem solving skills. As Theatre Manager, you will carefully balance creative community input and touring shows to a profitable and harmonious outcome for all. You will line manage a team of duty managers, technical/maintenance and box office staff, consisting of full and part time staff with some casual workers as required. You should also ensure that all patrons visiting the theatre receive the best possible experience and you must be prepared to work flexible hours.
