Salford Community Leisure Ltd: Freelance Project

Salford Community Leisure Ltd: Freelance Project

Salford Community Leisure Ltd: Freelance Project CoordinatorFee: £15,000
Deadline: 9am on Monday 19th June 2017
Salford Community Leisure Ltd. are looking to commission a Freelance Project Co-ordinator for the first year of Salford Libraries and Arts Programme, funded by Arts Council England. This ambitious arts programme will engage existing library users and museum visitors in high quality arts events, performances and activities at Eccles, Pendleton, Swinton and Walkden Library and Gateway Centres and at Salford Museum and Art Gallery. This research and development programme will make a positive contribution to public perceptions of libraries as welcoming, exciting cultural venues. Launched in National Library Week (9-14 Oct 2017), each season will kick off with author events from high calibre writers, whilst the 2018 and 2019 Summer Reading Challenges will engage with high profile children's authors.

A project coordinator will develop an attractive, coordinated programme of artistic workshops, performances and events with professional artists and companies. Participatory workshops alongside guest writers in creative writing, writing for performance, directorial and artistic vision, will support the artistic development of amateur and emerging writers and performers to create and showcase new work in libraries and write and produce their own songs and music through music technology workshops. Exhibiting visual artists will deliver workshops in libraries and increase public access to existing library digital resources and digital arts, coding and design.

This is an exciting opportunity for libraries and museums staff at all levels to share skills and knowledge and gain confidence in cultural commissioning, front of house, event management, audience development and delivering arts activities and test out an operational and strategic framework for the continued development of arts in Salford's libraries and museums.
