Fixed term contract, March - December 2020

30 hours, flexible hours split over min. 4 days with evening and weekend work required

Salary range: £26,101 to £28,253 pro-rata, subject to experience

This is a fantastic opportunity to work in depth with Creative Scene, the ACE Creative People and Places project in Batley & Spen and Dewsbury, West Yorkshire. Here at Creative Scene, we have a full programme of brilliant creative events and arts activities planned for the year and we are seeking an experienced arts producer with a passion for connecting people and getting exciting projects off the ground to deliver a portfolio of projects. You will have experience of working across arts disciplines, developing project ideas into exciting briefs, recruiting artists and companies to create brilliant work that responds to and engages communities’ interests. You will want to support communities to influence and get involved in the commissions, and know how to develop strong and productive relationships with a range of people.

You will commission and manage artists and companies to carry out research and development, workshops, and residencies within a range of settings including pubs, social centres and town centres, and support the planning and production of a range of activities and events, including:

• A new outdoor arts festival commission.
• New sustainable, digital light art commissions and community light art trail for annual
illuminations HeckmondLIGHT.
• Performing artists/company in residence to create new family friendly and pub theatre shows.
• Development of our creative hub, Brigantia, including digital artists residencies, artists networks and participatory projects.
• New high street Pop-Up Arts Spaces and curated events programme.

Project budgets are in place for 2020, and you will work within established Creative People and Places monitoring and reporting systems and alongside our Audience Development and Communications Manager to ensure projects are evaluated, documented and marketed to a high standard, and celebrated and shared widely. You will work closely with the Director to develop relationships and secure resources including funding, to enable us to take projects forward for the next funded period of Creative Scene. (expected to be January 2021- December 2023, subject to confirmation of funding in May 2020). As such there is potential to extend the contract into this period.
