EXEWHIRR: A Free Afternoon of Presentations, Performances, and Exhibitions on the Human-Technology Relationship Through the Ages

From touchscreens to trains and bicycles to Babbage, Bike Shed Theatre want to introduce the public in an engaging way to cutting-edge research on and artistic representations of humanity’s relationship with technology. The event will explore this theme in creative and accessible ways through short talks, performances, video installations, and interactive exhibitions. It will be an event that brings together artists, academics, performers, and makers. Bike Shed Theatre hope to foster an atmosphere that will be open, fun, and explorative. Participants will be encouraged to try things out, ask questions, and be curious!

Bike Shed Theatre are looking for artists working in any media (including video and performance) whose work explores the human-machine relationship in its broadest sense, who would be interested in coming to Exeter and displaying their work (possibly giving a talk) to a public audience. The event is currently scheduled for Sunday 19th April 2015 at the Bike Shed Theatre, Exeter.

Bike Shed Theatre are also interested in hearing from artists, curators or researchers who are interested in this theme and our project, or who are working in a similar area.

Fee: We will be applying for Wellcome Trust funding in October 2014. Should this be successful we will be able to offer a fee (TBC) and expenses. There is no fee at the application stage and unfortunately this is not a commission.
