Leadership Link Up Supper; Collaboration, Confidence & Trust

Leadership Link Up Supper; Collaboration, Confidence & Trust

Developing confidence and building trust! 11th March 3pm-6pm

We want to invite you to a supper meeting at Hallr Woods.

This event is the first in a new series exploring the values of leadership in the creative and cultural sector.

There will be opportunities to work together on the following activities - Green Woodworking Workshop, making a clay pot or object which will be fired in the Ramano - British Kiln reconstruction, contribute to a natural mandala on the woodland floor and if you're feeling confident enough, have a go on the slack line!

Led by Chris Huxley (West Mead Creative) and lecturer in Arts Managament at Arts University Bournemouth where he teaches strategic management, fundraising and cultural trends. The speakers will include Dr Sam Rose (Team Leader, Jurassic Coast Team).

Sam Rose is frustrated downhill skier, photographer and potter who manages England's first and only natural World Heritage Site. With a PhD in Tropical Rain forest biodiversity, and a background in international development with VSO, looking after a coastline of crumbling rocks and fossils seems a strange choice, but one which is professionally challenging and extremely rewarding. He has been doing the role for 10 years, now and highlights include lunch with Sir David Attenborough and a presentation at the World Heritage Committee meeting in Phnom Penh. The best part of the job is being on a beach with people who are enjoying being there, inspired and amazed by the natural world they live in.

In the last couple of years Sam has led the creation of a new organisation to represent all of the UK's 28 World Heritage Sites nationally and internationally, a further challenge. Sam's creative and leadership influences include Douglas Adams and Ernest Shackleton.

You don't have to consider yourself as a leader within the industry to attend these events. It is about listening to some of the industry’s most influential figures, who are or have been leaders within their field. It is about coming away feeling inspired and motivated to perform the best you can in your practice and career.

Creative Somerset is committed to developing leadership skills for the creative sector in Somerset. For more information about these events, please visit our website.
