Budleigh Jazz Festival 2017

Budleigh Jazz Festival 2017

Brian Moore, musical director of DYJO says: "This year's two bands are as strong as ever with already 60 players split between DYJO1 and DYJO2. Several of last year's players have left to go to music colleges to study jazz but that just means that audiences will get the chance to hear new jazz voices from the many skilled soloists in DYJO. Both bands will be featuring tunes from the 1930s up to the present day, with not just classic swing but Latin, rock and funk as well. The year's programme involves many concerts at festivals around Devon, and culminates with a summer tour to play at the international jazz festivals at Vienne (France) and Montreux (Switzerland)."

Graham Hutton, who will conduct both DYJO bands on the Friday night, is highly regarded as a jazz trumpeter and band leader. Although specialising in the jazz and Big Band idioms, he also performs in a diverse range of other settings from performing with the Ray McVay Glenn Miller Orchestra to session work on House records. Locally he is a jazz soloist with AJ's Big Band and the Dave Hankin Big Band.

The concert starts at 7.30pm
