WANTED:

3 emerging artists to be part of a mentorship program for the participatory arts project ‘Meet Me On The Boat’ to gain and develop participatory arts skills in Torbay.

Context:

You will work on a creative participatory project based in Torbay, working with mentor lead artists from Encounters Arts and Doorstep Arts.

Brief/instructions

You will each be working with a professional artist to creatively document a conversation between 3 people of Torbay, linked by a common theme, whilst on a boat trip around the bay.

You will be supported to work as a team to then find a way of presenting the creative documented conversations in a curated installation for a public audience.

You will be required to take a reflective approach to your learning and complete regular blog posts about your experience working on the project.

Timeline

You will need to be available to interview for the post on 14th July and a training day on Wed 22 July. Three days delivery and one group training day between 17th August – 6th September- dates to be finalized. You will need to be able to work independently (with the support of your mentor) from 6-17th Sept to prepare your curated installation. You will need to be available for the boat performance experience which will take place over the weekend 18th, 19th and 20th Sept (date tbc).

Job Description

You will be assigned a project mentor during your participatory training day; this will be the person you will liaise with.

Person Spec
Prior experience or interest in the arts is desirable (any art form), but you are encouraged to apply even if you have limited experience. Any questions can be sent to doorsteparts@gmail.com

Contract and Fee
These are paid positions, and you will receive a stipend for your time on the project according to the number of hours you will work.
