The specific focus of the job will vary according to your strengths and interests, and will be shaped around you, so it’s important that you take the time to ensure your experience and/or passions are well-articulated in your application. This is a freelance assistant role, part of our ‘Foot in the Door’ emerging artists support programme. Doorstep is a person-centred organisation and as such, we will consider both applicants who are just beginning to forge a career in the creative industries, as well as those with more experience.

We expect our staff to be organised, professional and reliable as well as committed and enthusiastic. Furthermore, the successful candidate will be willing to tackle any jobs that need doing, and will need to be responsive to the needs of the festival. Strong administrative skills are a must and the ability to work independently is imperative, while maintaining strong contact with the core team on a weekly basis. We would be interested in seeing applications from those with digital/film specialisms, or those with a particular interest in community engagement, but these are not mandatory for the role.

We anticipate that you will be available to work during period leading up to and including the Doorstep Theatre autumn festival dates, which are Wednesday 31st October – Sunday 4th November. The number of hours and rates of pay will be collaboratively constructed with you prior to taking up the post, and will be based on the Doorstep Arts ‘Foot in the Door’ progression scheme, which has clear tiers/rates of pay according to experience and background.

While we will consider expressions of interest on a rolling basis throughout the year, those interested in immediately supporting the upcoming Autumn Festival must apply by 31st August.

How to apply:
Email a CV (not to exceed two sides of A4) and a single-page covering letter detailing your interests and reasons for applying for the role to mair@doorsteparts.co.uk.
Optional supplemental creative additions to your application are welcomed, which could include a creative PDF portfolio or examples of videos.
Deadline for applications for the Autumn Festival role is Fri 31 August, by 5pm.
Applications will be considered on a rolling basis for further work & future festivals.
