Clients in recovery are accessing the arts

This month we will be working with our clients to bring out their creativity. In Art Therapy, clients use their creativity and imagination to expresses themselves in a healthy and productive way.

Art Therapy aims to expand forms of communication in order to better convey experiences, ideas and emotions. It is an expressive group therapy that helps people express the thoughts and feelings they may not be able to say with words. It is especially helpful for people who have underlying psychological issues related to their addiction, such as a history of abuse. Since creating art is often a nonverbal process, it provides an opportunity to explore, understand, and resolve issues that clients may not feel comfortable talking about in a regular conversation.

This month clients are starting to work on creative pieces that will be exhibited later in the year.
