Elstree Screen Heritage was created in 2005 by local volunteers to record, preserve and share
the unique film and television legacy of Elstree and Borehamwood.

It has built up an archive of information, memories,images, video and other material.

“First Impressions”, a community-based project, has created many high impact visual reminders
of the local heritage of film and TV production. A heritage trail now runs from the railway station,
along Shenley Road, past the BBC Elstree Centre to Elstree Studios and beyond.

During 2014 we celebrated a Centenary of local film-making with a range of activities, including a free-to-all exhibition at the new community museum.

In association with the 2020 Year of Culture initiative we have just published
'MGM British Studios' (Hollywood in Hertfordshire) to mark the 50th anniversary of the closure of this iconic film studio,
