Heist

An exhibition of ‘stolen’ art from the British Art Show (BAS7), HEIST is the culmination of a six-month project by artists Felicity Shillingford and Gabrielle Hoad.

Featuring contributions from official BAS7 artists as well as those taking part
in the Plymouth Fringe, HEIST offers a mischievous flavour of what's on
offer in BAS7's host city Plymouth.

HEIST uses theft as a metaphor and mechanism for dealing with the large and disparate body of work that makes up the British Art Show and the associated Plymouth Fringe.

Removed with apparent haste from Plymouth, a loose collection of art, artefacts, relics and ephemera will be presented in Exeter as a thieves' stash. Appropriation, quotation, imitation and other forms of artistic 'lifting' will be utilised.

HEIST explores the mechanics of the contemporary art market, including the value assigned to different types of art or artefacts. It reflects on the legal as well as illegal transactions that utilise art as a commodity or currency.

Open 10am to 5pm daily.
