Tales from the Wilderness

Tales from the Wilderness

Three Devon artists respond to their environment in paint, print, paper and stitch. Drawing inspiration from the diverse landscape of the county, from moorland to woodland, river to coast, this exhibition also weaves in the richness of the wildlife, myths, stories and folksongs of the countryside around us.

Rachel Jennings has produced a varied body of work incorporating textiles, papermaking and mixed media techniques, all inspired by the myths, songs and wildlife associated with the Dartmoor landscape.
Before settling in Devon, Rachel exhibited widely and ran workshops in Somerset, Dorset and Wiltshire. She is a Member of the Somerset Guild of Craftsmen.

Ewan Walton has been painting in oils since 2005 and, having spent a year painting full time at Seale Hayne, has exhibited in Ashburton, Teignmouth and Kingsbridge. A keen walker and runner, he takes every opportunity to explore the landscapes he loves.

Maggie Smith is constantly drawn to the sea, and her large mixed media pieces are developed in response to her love of the coastline. Trained in ceramics and increasingly involved in exploring the world of printmaking, Maggie presents a varied and exciting body of work. Maggie exhibits with Press Gang Printmakers, and at regular Open Studios Events.
