Phurpa

Before Buddhism reached Tiber, practices involving shamanic rites derived from various ancestral cults became known as ‘Bon’. Phurpa, led by contemporary artist Alexey Tegin, is a Moscow group based in this tradition. Making its eagerly awaited UK debut at hcmf// 2017, the cult band’s trademark style is a specific kind of overtone chanting, based on the principle of the singer’s transmogrification during the chanting meditation.
