HAYDAR/SHAH-E-MARDAAN- South Asian & Qawwali music collaboration

Haydar is the duo of Salamet Husayn, a 19 year old musician from Bradford, and his brother Suleyman. The brothers began playing music at a very young age. Salamet specialises in clarinet, and also plays harmonium and piano to a high standard. He has been blessed with a rare gift where he can pick up almost any instrument and play it. Sulayman, currently finishing his GCSEs, plays flute and percussion. The group was established as a vehicle for exploring the brothers' interest in South Asian and Turkic music. South Asian music collaboration
The brothers have already performed with internationally renowned musicians such as Mahmood Sabri (the last of the Sabri Brothers) Milad Raza Qadri, the Rajasthani group Irshad Ali Qawwal party, Adeel Chisti (son of the late Saeed Chisti), Shah-e-Mardaan, and Abdul Hamid and Qawwal party.

Shah-e-Mardaan features Zhubair Mohammed (who also performs with Abdul Hamid and Qawwal Party) and Javed Husayn. The group specialises in qawwali music and draws upon its members Naqshbandi Sufi heritage to combine elements drawn from other devotional music traditions to create an organic yet pathbreaking take on the genre. For this show they will be joined by Salamet and Suleyman Husayn.
