Exploring Emotions Through Art & Mindfulness (for children)

Exploring Emotions Through Art & Mindfulness (for children)

This is an after school art club running for 12 weeks up until the Easter break.

This course gives your child the opportunity to explore and understand their emotions and how to deal with them through mindfulness, whilst being creative through art.

Some children come to this class because they love art, some are shy or suffer anxiety, some have adhd or autism, all are welcome and all will benefit from our structured creative sessions.

Our mindfulness course is unique with no-one offering mindfulness crafts tutored by such an experienced art therapist & family support worker.

We run different projects each week, all designed to teach the children about understanding their emotions, how to talk about their feelings whist providing them with support and building their confidence.

Some projects are repeated in different ways to help instill the exploration and their understanding.

Working with raw clay, plaster, canvases, paints, buttons, wire and glass there are so many amazing things the children can make whilst benefiting from mindfulness and understanding their emotions, critical to help our children develop through their young years.

In the 1.5 hour session, we start with a snack and a drink then discuss feelings and emotions before working on the craft, there is always time for visualisation and mindfulness and a few bubbles, to help with breathing techniques.

The group is small with a maximum number of 12 in the class of 6-11yr old children.

Your Tutor:
Amy Kelly, Therapeutic Arts Facilitator & Family Support Worker.
15+ years experience working with families and children as support worker. Supporting them to explore and understand their emotional well-being, relationships and home life.

Parents are encouraged to leave the children while the workshop is on, (we will be providing some feedback sessions for adults at a later date) our drop-in craft shop is open while the workshop is running, you are welcome to stay and have a cup of tea or coffee and even enjoy some drop-in crafts yourself!
