Iver Klingenberg

Iver Klingenberg Artist

My name is Iver Klingenberg. I am Danish, born in 1946, moving to England in 1967. I am self-taught and began painting seriously in 1980. My first one man exhibition was in Torrington, North Devon, a year later. Subsequent exhibitions followed in Ilfracombe, the Saunton Sands Hotel and Barnstaple. I have had paintings selected for the Paris Salon Exhibition and the Royal Society of Marine Artists in London.
In 1990 my artistic career was put on hold to cope with the demands of a career in nursing home management.
Since retirement I have endeavoured to restart my painting and establish an artistic base in Porlock, Somerset.
My father, an artist, was an early influence on my painting. I continue to see his influence in my work today.
Many of my paintings involve water, particularly the sea. I am fascinated by the recreation of the drama of light on water and in the landscape.
I am also passionate about painting steam trains (being fortunate enough to live near the West Somerset Railway) and figures particularly dancers.
I am always happy to accept new commissions and welcome the chance to expand my repertoire and rise to new challenges.

Some previous reviews:

“To have achieved an exhibition of such high quality, in a relatively short time is a accomplishment indeed”.

“The quality is conspicuous in “Gentle Giants”
“The best of the paintings are those which illustrate the artist’s involvement with the effects of light”

“His style, initially influenced by his father – a Danish Impressionist artist Christian Emile – is contemplative and gentle”
