Contemporary Art Exhibition by Carl Cashman and James Derwin

Artists Carl Cashman and James Derwin decided to embark on a collaborative exhibition after successfully working together on two previous exhibitions. The two exhibitions they had previously worked on were 'Immersive Worlds' and 'Beyond Boundaries' which were held at The Spanish Barn, Torre Abbey, Torquay in 2011. James Derwin was the curator and an exhibitor on both these occasions, whom sought out Carl Cashman to represent local emerging contemporary talent. The two artist's work are quite different, Carl's work is a hand painted geometric based practise and James works in a variety of media from ceramic sculpture to print. The geometric hand painted compositions of Carl Cashman are interspersed with bare sections of wood grain and powerful vivid colours creating 3-Dimensional optical illusions, this will be contrasted by James Derwin's surreal and often illustrative imagery. The two artists have collaborated on several different objects for this exhibition including large painting and sculpture, with the intention of combining their individual strengths.
