Carving a Head in Wood, a masterclass.

This is a unique opportunity to learn the art of portrait carving from Jamie Frost, a sculptor acclaimed for his ability to capture the emotional and expressive qualities of the human spirit.

A limited number of participants will carve blocks of lime wood using the finest Swiss hand tools. Lime is famed for its qualities, perfect for those wishing to make swift progress and capture fine detail. No experience is required, only a willingness to be absorbed in the processes and techniques over a full week.
As we continue over the weekend Jamie will introduce you to the work of many other sculptors and talk you through the different approaches taken in his own work. Carving is a beautiful process. The textures, sounds and aroma of the materials will awaken your senses, accompanied by the rhythms of each participant driving chisel with mallet.
