Jane Rendell- Illustration Jane Rendell - Illustration/Commissions

I Graduated from Falmouth College of Arts (now called University College Falmouth) in 2005 with a first class honours degree in Fine Art. My main interest and subject matter is people. I am facinated by the idea that hundreds of people can pass through a certain place everyday, or be in a certain public place on a certain day yet never again be together in that place at the same time. I use photography to capture these people and then a range of drawing media (such as graphite powder, charcoal and stencilling techniques) to produce images of all them together, captured in a moment that did not happen at one time but in one place.

Another big influence for my work is Fashion, in particular how what we wear creates a certain image and is often related to age. For my degree show i produced a series of large drawings in which i mixed the clothes and bodies and heads of fashion models with that of regular individuals. I hope that the viewer would take a second look at these drawings and question whether the people i have created are real, as the apparent age of the person does not match what they are wearing in accordance with our perceptions of an individual's self image.

I love fashion illustration and since graduating from my fine art degree i have been moving towards drawing in this specialism. Also, i spend time drawing commissions, which have been of people's animals or loved ones. I am always open to commissions and illustration, please feel free to email me with any enquiries.
