HMS Foudroyant 80 guns and HMS Queen Charlotte 100 guns in close company arriving at Palermo.

HMS Queen Charlotte 100 (1st of that name) Vice Admiral Lord Keith’s flagship, 2nd in command of the Mediterranean fleet to Admiral Jervis, 1st Earl St. Vincent. in company with Admiral Lord Nelson, his subordinate at that time, on board his flagship HMS foudroyant 80. They sought to capture supply ships and disrupt French supplies in the area between Tunis and Genoa, January 1800, shortly after, March 1800, Queen Charlotte caught fire and sank while reconnoitring the island of Capraia, in the tuscan Archipelago. Keith was not on board at the time and observed the disaster form the shore.
