Pavilion Dance South West - Call for Artist Proposals

Pavilion Dance South West – Discovery Artists
Call for Artist Proposals
Pavilion Dance South West is offering four dance artists or companies, three based in the UK and one international, the opportunity to become Discovery Artists with us.
Pavilion Dance South West Discovery Artists
Being a Discovery Artist with PDSW allows us to get to know each other better. We are curious about you and your work, and this programme will allow us to indulge in creative conversations. You may wish to explore new ideas, or to reconsider your practice. You may wish to polish your work for touring. Whatever your ambition, this is a testing ground. And we will be here to support you.
What is involved?
We will invite you to spend up to two weeks at Pavilion Dance with free studio space and a contribution to your travel and accommodation costs. We will have a number of conversations during your residency and share our aspirations together. We will see some of your ideas in the studio and chat about them. We can also offer you a work in progress sharing during your development process, if you wish.
The residencies will also have an ‘open studio’ day, where invited guests will be able to watch you work.
We will also offer you access to our network of visual artists, should you wish to invite them to observe and draw your rehearsals.
Timeline
Application deadline: 12.00pm, 17th December 2015 Offers of support to applicants: 18th January 2016 Residency dates: August and September 2016
How to apply
Please email the following to eloise@pdsw.org.uk
1. Expression of Interest
We would like to get an idea of your vision and your ambitions for your work. Please submit an expression of interest that clearly shows your ideas and how we can work with you to develop and realise them. This can be written (500 words maximum) or a video (3 minutes maximum). It’s important that you read our Artistic Manifesto and think about whether we are the right match for you.
You will be directly supported by PDSW staff, including the Producer (Programme and Artist Development), and will also have access to members of our Learning & Participation and Marketing team, so please think about how you would benefit from this opportunity and be specific in expressing your aims.
2. Biography and CV
Please also send us a short biography (200 words maximum or 1 minute video), and a current CV
3. Links to videos of your work
Please send us links to online videos of your work. These can be on YouTube, Vimeo or similar platforms. Please do not send us video files.
Next Steps:
Applications will be assessed by members of the PDSW team. We may wish to follow up with a conversation with you. We will respond to successful applicants by 18th January 2016. All unsuccessful applicants will be contacted by the end of January.
We regret that we will not be able to provide feedback to unsuccessful applicants, but will add your details to our artist’s database to keep you informed of future opportunities. If you do not wish to be added to our database, and receive updates from PDSW, please let us know on your application.
We are keen to encourage applications from Deaf and disabled artists. This call out is available as an audio recording and in a Plain English version.
