PDSW are looking for an imaginative producer to work within our Engagement Team who is committed to our values; being generous, inclusive, inspiring and passionate about dance.
The role will create and deliver dance experiences by, with and for children and young people.

You will be a caring, sparky, energised and organised person with a flair for leading and inspiring young people, managing events and projects and enthusing and persuading people to join our party!

The Young People’s Producer represents Pavilion Dance South West’s commitment to the provision of excellent dance experiences for young people.

The role is all about bringing energy, verve, imagination and leadership to the development and management of creative dance projects and opportunities for children and young people.

It is about inspiring and enthusing schools, teachers, funders and young people themselves of course!

Salary: £25,000 - £28,000
Terms: 18-month Fixed Term contract. Probationary period: 1 month.
Notice period: 2 months
Holiday entitlement: 25 days per annum plus bank holidays
Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Detailed key responsibilities

Programming and Project Leadership

• Manage, maintain and where appropriate, develop the youth dance offer in Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole
• Project manage COAST Youth Dance Company and collaborate with the Artistic Director to develop a vision and action plan for the company
• Produce and programme youth dance performance platforms and holiday activities for children and young people taking place at Pavilion Dance
• Work with the Head of Engagement to coordinate our regional networking and professional development days including ‘Bounce’ Action Group and Young Choreographers South West
• Work collaboratively with the Programming & Artist Development Producer to develop special opportunities for young people to connect with the Performance programme through activities such as special offers, workshops, masterclasses and curtain raisers.

Learning and widening engagement

• Nurture and develop the Learning Associates programme
• Lead on the new Go See programme working with schools from low socio-economic areas of BCP to receive half price tickets to the Performance Programme
• Network with other schools and education settings in Bournemouth & Poole to promote our work and opportunities
• Support young people looking for career paths into the dance industry by attending careers events and hosting work experience students
• Initiate and coordinate training opportunities for dance teachers and youth dance leaders
• Represent PDSW in the Cultural Hub partnership between cultural organisations and schools across Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole
• Take responsibility to deliver and grow the delivery of Arts Awards and Artsmark

Audience development and advocacy

• Work closely with the Marketing team to initiate and maintain clear and targeted communications online, through social media and print
• Build relationships with children, young people, teachers, governors, parents and carers and take every opportunity to connect them with our classes, performances and programmes and to feedback their feedback and needs to the rest of the team.

Finance and administration

• Manage and monitor individual programme and project budgets, in collaboration with your line manager
• Identify funding sources for the Children and Young People’s programme and work closely with the Head of Engagement to prepare fundraising applications and initiatives
• Be responsible for the monitoring, evaluation and documentation of each activity

Other Duties

• Be aware of, and actively implement the organisation’s policies with regard to, for example, Equal Opportunities, Child Safeguarding, Child Performance Licences and Diversity
• Attend staff & other relevant internal and external meetings and participate in training and other forms of staff development
• Be available to work at evenings, weekends and bank holidays when necessary
• Undertake any other duties commensurate with the post as directed by your line manager

Personal qualities

• Passionate about creating opportunities for children and young people to dance
• Creative imagination and a positive approach to challenges
• Persuasive communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire all to engage
• Generous team player with a desire to facilitate others in an inclusive environment
• An aptitude for responsibility and independence with a desire to own and deliver projects
• Diplomacy, tact and an ability to collaborate
• Well-organised and able to maximise limited resources
• Able to be self-motivated and to work flexibly as part of a creative team
• Able to manage multiple priorities, work within tight deadlines and pay attention to detail
• Able and willing to work flexible hours and travel regionally and nationally

Essential Experience, knowledge and skills

• A strong dance background, dance degree or equivalent
• Experienced in delivering or managing dance projects for children and young people
• Experience of working with diverse teams and with a range of partners
• The proven ability to generate new creative ideas and successfully realise them
• Experience of monitoring and reporting back on projects
• Experience of monitoring and managing budgets
• Strong IT skills

Desirable Experience and skills

• Experience of working within, or in close partnership with, the education sector
• Experience of planning and producing events such as festivals or performance platforms
• Experience of building relationships and managing partnerships
• Demonstrable experience of successful fundraising
• Full UK driving licence and access to a car
