As part of the 13th Appledore Arts Festival I will be talking about my recent residency at Bucks Mills Cabin. From the 1920s until 1971 the Cabin was used as a studio and summer residence by artists Judith Ackland and Mary Stella Edwards. After Judith's death, Mary Stella Edwards never used the Cabin again and its interior and contents have remained almost exactly as the two women left them nearly 40 years ago. I was commissioned to spend the first 2 weeks in May as the first artist-in-residence at the Cabin through a partnership project between Appledore Arts and the National Trust.
