New Approaches to Storytelling for Early Years Practitioners

New Approaches to Storytelling for Early Years Practitioners

Expressive Explorers, a new Kirklees start up business, are excited to be launching their storytelling training workshops for Private Day Nurseries and Pre-Schools in conjunction with Kirklees Libraries.

Huddersfield Library, Tuesday 22nd May, 5pm - 8pm

This evening workshop will give you the opportunity to discover creative ways of exploring stories using the performing and visual arts.

5pm Arrival for refreshments and registration. There will be the opportunity to network, join the library, explore mark making techniques with local artist Lauren Lister and pick up your free Bookstart pack.

6-8pm An opportunity to attend each of the following workshops:

Expressive Explorers: Claire Alizon Hills (Artistic Director/Writer Performer of Topsy Turvy Theatre) will take you on a journey through Goldilocks and the Three Bears using drama, song and movement based exercises. There will be plenty of opportunity to share ideas and discuss areas of the EYFS framework covered by different elements of the story. Each setting will receive a resource book and a Goldilocks and the Three Bears A1 story map poster to keep and use with their children. NB. Please dress in comfortable clothing for moving around and sitting on the floor.

Kirklees Libraries: Librarians will share classic tales as well as new books and showcase how these can be brought to life by exploring them with all the senses. There will be ideas on how to make storytimes more accessible and inclusive and plus helpful hints on how to make simple, useful resources for sensory storytelling.

The cost for the first attendee from each setting is £70 and any additional attendees are £20 each. Included in the price are refreshments and an Expressive Explorers resource book and Story Map poster for each setting.
