The LBT's 21st Birthday Gala

The LBT's 21st Birthday Gala

The Lawrence Batley Theatre pops the cork on a very special Autumn season with a glittering 21st Birthday Gala on Friday 25 September.

The LBT’s founding Director Ron McAllister and current Director Victoria Firth will take to the stage to introduce a multi-faceted evening of performance, reminiscence and anticipation of things to come, taking in the entire life of the theatre.

Birmingham Royal Ballet’s Artistic Director David Bintley CBE will introduce the White Swan Pas de Deux from Swan Lake performed by dancers from the company. Bolton Octagon contribute a piece from Alan Bennett’s classic Talking Heads, and Phoenix Dance Theatre perform Shift - Christopher Bruce CBE’s stunning piece evoking life in the 1940s. Opera North bring a selection of songs including numbers from their forthcoming production of Kiss Me Kate, and the LBT’s resident company Tell Tale Hearts preview a musical excerpt from their Christmas show Snow White.

Award-winning magic comes courtesy of local legends High Jinx, and there will be more musical entertainment from Huddersfield Musical Theatre Company with highlights from Hairspray.

LBT Director Victoria Firth commented: “This historic event is a unique chance to celebrate the extraordinary breadth and quality of performance seen on the LBT’s stages, and to pay tribute to our many friends and supporters. We’ve lined up an incredibly wide-ranging programme for the evening, and all of the artists will be donating their performances as a gift, which means that all proceeds from ticket sales will go directly to the LBT’s 21st Birthday Fund. In helping us celebrate our coming of age, our audience will also be ensuring that the theatre continues to flourish for the next 21 years and beyond.”

The LBT’s 21st Birthday Gala takes place on Friday 25 September at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at £21, and can be booked via Box Office on 01484 430528 or online at
