Do you have a passion for the arts?
Would you like to contribute to the cultural life of Kirklees?
Do you believe that creativity can enrich the life of individuals and communities?
Would you like to join a Board and make a difference?

The Lawrence Batley Theatre (LBT) in Huddersfield is seeking new volunteer Board members.

The LBT presents a dynamic professional programme of inspiring and exciting live performance, film and exhibitions. We are recognised across the region for our excellent contemporary dance, children’s and performance programme. We are home to four companies: Dark Horse, Chol Theatre, Joss Arnott Dance and Tell Tale Hearts and visual artists in residence.

We have a strong commitment to amateur societies and encourage creativity and learning through community and youth productions, events and classes. We also work across Kirklees in local settings using the arts to help people discover their creativity and develop new opportunities for individuals and communities.

In 2014 we secured £2million investment from the Arts Council Creative People and Places fund to create a programme of creativity activity in North Kirklees. Our project Creative Scene started in July 14 and will run till Dec 16. We have just applied for a second round of funding which would extend the project until 2020.

This is a chance for enthusiastic people to play a strategic role in the future of an established and exciting organisation. We are looking for individuals who will volunteer their ideas, experience, skills and energy as a member of our Board.

We welcome applications from all backgrounds and sectors.

We are particularly seeking applications from people with:
• Experience of working with diverse communities
• Experience of capital projects and building development
• Experience of working with University or higher/further education
• Experience of theatre programming or production
• Experience of large scale voluntary sector organisations

The Board usually meets bi-monthly for around 2 hours at the theatre. You would also be required to participate in Away Days and attend performances from time to time.
