MANASAMITRA – SOCIAL MEDIA/COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WORKER

MANASAMITRA – SOCIAL MEDIA/COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WORKER

Manasamitra is a Yorkshire based artist-led organisation committed to exploring innovative and exciting ways to create and deliver quality arts experiences. Whilst the company is rooted in traditional repertoire, culture and heritage of South Asia, it works collaboratively with a wide range of different artists from diverse cultural backgrounds, creating new sounds and experiences with each project. Manasamitra is a Sanskrit word meaning ‘friend to the heart and mind’ and it is this philosophy which underpins all aspects of the company’s artistic practice and its personal and organisational behaviours. We believe that our work will excite, challenge, heal and entertain wide ranging audiences locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.

Manasamitra is a micro-business of two people and a broad range of freelance collaborators and practitioners. We are now looking for a Social Media / Community Development Worker to work with us on our developing social media marketing strategy and to link/liaise with local communities in Kirklees.

ROLE SUMMARY
The Social Media / Community Development Worker will take day-to-day responsibility for managing our online and social media presence, liaising primarily with Manasamitra’s Artistic Director, as well as with the General Manager and our external marketing consultants. In addition, working with the Artistic Director and the General Manager, the postholder will research and liaise with community groups in Kirklees, concentrating on the proposed target groups outlined in the Manasamitra Organisation Plan.

The days and hours worked are flexible and will be negotiated with the successful applicant. The General Manager usually works on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We are currently working from home and the postholder would be required to work from their own base.

Hours: 1 day (7.5 hours) per week excluding breaks. This can be worked in half days or across the week as required by the demands of the post and/or to fit in with existing commitments.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE
Please send a CV and an application letter (no more than 2 sides of A4) outlining why you are interested in this position and how you meet the Person Specification above. Please include any relevant experience, whether paid or voluntary.
