Mosaic Art for beginners

Mosaic Art for beginners

Mosaic art is a decoration of a surface with designs made up of closely set, usually variously coloured, small pieces of material such as stone, mineral, glass, tile, or shell.
Mosaics have a history that reaches back before Roman times, but inspiration behind the designs can come from the everyday world around us, from animal life to landscapes and art. These influences can affect not just the motifs but also the choice of colour, patter and texture.
We will look at the stunning work of mosaic masters like Antoni Gaudi and Paul Klee and make beautiful mosaics for your home and garden.
Ideal for beginners, we will focus on the preparing materials, clipping tiles, using nippers, priming surfaces, using indirect and direct method, and finally fixing using grout.
You will be show and encouraged how to mosaic a coaster, picture frame, and a ceramic pot.
