Oxjam Torquay Fundraising Manager

Key Purpose: Working under the Takeover Manager to lead a fundraising team coordinating a multi-venue Oxjam Takeover event in Torquay to raise money for Oxfam GB.
Ideal experience for: Candidates looking for events, project management or fundraising experience.
Commitment: Six months (May to November 2013), 4+ hours a week. Between September and the end of October, up to 10 hours a week will be required.

Oxjam is a music festival with a difference. Throughout October, volunteers organise hundreds of music events, of all types and genres, across the UK. Since 2006, these events have raised more than £2 million for Oxfam.
The centre-piece of the festival is the Oxjam Takeover – up to 60 multi-venue events happening in towns and cities across the UK, all on one weekend in October. Each event includes up to 8 venues. Some will have over 100 bands performing, showcasing the very best of local talent.

As Fundraising Manager, you will have responsibility for delivering the team's fundraising objective, plans and (with Takeover Manager) oversees budget for the team, pay raised money into Oxjam Torquay bank account, design and implement a fundraising strategy to cover any incurred costs, generate a minimum of £1000 to donate to Oxfam pre-October and develop innovative ways to maximise income from the takeover event itself.

Key responsibilities:
1. To recruit and manage a fundraising team of 2-3 committed volunteers.
3. To assist in the organisation of a series of fundraising events or initiatives in the months prior to the Torquay Oxjam Takeover in association with the Takeover Manager, raising a minimum of £1000
4. To be in regular communication with the Torquay Oxjam Takeover manager by phone, email and face-to-face. You will have to agree with them a regular time for monthly meetings.
5. To attend the Oxjam national training conference (15th-16th June 2013).
Skills and experience:
Experience of organising events
Fantastic inter-personal and communications skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Knowledge and understanding of your local music scene
Fundraising experience is essential
