Those Moments...

Those Moments...

“I think there are different kinds of happiness. We know when we're happy a lot of the time, but then there are those moments that have more of an afterglow, when the happiness has more depth.”
(Ariel Gore)

The afterglow of a vibrant sunset lights the skies over Brixham Harbour &Torbay on a summer’s evening.

The foundation stone for Brixham Breakwater was laid in 1843. [The "intended breakwater" is shown on the 1781 chart]. After 1400 feet had been built to the Rendel's designs all work stopped for lack of funds.

The partially completed breakwater suffered damage in the 1866 and other storms. In 1909 a 600 feet additional section was started with government help; then, in 1912, a further 1,000 feet was begun. This was the final part and, although World War 1 was being fought at the time, it was completed in 1916.
