Design Company thanks College for huge kick start

Altitude Design is a successful design agency based in the South West, run by Plymouth College of Art Graduate Miles Noble.

What were you doing before you came to Plymouth College of Art?
After leaving Plymouth College at 16, I then went to Plymouth College of Art to complete a National Diploma (ND) in Graphic Design and then went on to study a Bachelor of Arts.

Why did you choose to study at Plymouth College of Art and what made you choose your subject?
I have always loved design and I was blessed to know at a young age that Graphic Design was something that I wanted to do. I attended lots of open days for colleges around the South West and Plymouth College of Art won hands down for me as it had such a wonderful buzz and fantastic atmosphere to it.

What did studying at Plymouth College Art of mean to you in terms of your career?
Without Plymouth College Art's massive support and guidance I wouldn't be where I am today.

And Personally?
I think the biggest change I found through studying at Plymouth College of Art was the adult relationships we had with the lecturers, it was as if we were all on the same level and that we had a lot of respect for each other. Going to college was a big transition in life. You feel more like an adult at college, you make your own decisions and if you make the wrong choices it backfires on you.

Is there any particular memory of your time at Plymouth College of Art that sticks out?
The Corporate Prize Awards was a particularly happy memory for me as I won ‘First Prize, Student of the Year.

First Job on Graduating? What are you up to now?
Whilst I was studying for my degree I was lucky enough to get a job working for Company of Designers England, which was fantastic to get some hands on experience and mentoring before I left college. I now am the Managing Director of Altitude Design based in the Roland Levinsky Building, working for some of the most respected brands in the world including Coca-Cola, Holiday Inn and Universal Music.

What advice would you give someone wanting to get into your line of work?
To anyone who wants to get into this industry I would say that you need to work as hard as you possibly can and get your name out there to as many people and places as possible.

Finally, is there anything else that you would like to say?
I would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to Plymouth College of Art for everything and to anyone who is looking to join a course at the college - you will not be dissapointed!
