The Month of MA!

The Month of MA!

Plymouth College of Art is opening up its Masters Programme next month and offering prospective students the unique opportunity to be an MA student for a day.

Those who sign up for the experience will work alongside current MA students. They will enjoy the fusion of inspirational, hands on print and ceramics workshops, lectures, curators’ talks and artists’ talks that all form part of the current MA students Creative Exploration module.

There are three days to choose from; Wednesday 2, 9 or 16 May, and each day has a different schedule. The days are split into sessions and it is possible to sign up for one session alone, or for those that want the whole experience, the full day.

Karin Jordan, Postgraduate Programme Leader, will be on hand to speak to prospective students and offer an overview of the MA Programme. Karin said, “Our postgraduate courses offer you the opportunity to accelerate an existing idea, find new direction or refresh your current practice in a real world environment. Students find this often leads to new ways of making a living creatively. Our taster programme offers a unique insight into our courses, working alongside current students and meeting staff while enjoying our excellent facilities"

Whether you would like to embark on a career as a Curator, start up a new creative enterprise or utilise your creative practice to make a positive contribution to current global challenges, Plymouth College of Art’s MA Programme can help.

There are four Masters Courses to choose from: Entrepreneurship for Creative Practice, Creative Practice for Sustainability, Critical and Curatorial Practices and Contemporary Crafts (subject to validation). These courses will prepare you for employment in creative, operational or managerial positions in a broad spectrum of Cultural and Creative Industries.

The College has an impressive array of industry-specific facilities and has recently announced the investment of £4m in a new contemporary crafts building that is due to open in 2013.

Claire Crompton, 2nd year Masters Student said, “The MA is challenging and inspiring. It pushes you beyond your limits and Plymouth College of Art provides a positive and creative atmosphere with excellent teaching.”
